Does this game now push custom maps and mods to clients? (players logging in to that server) If the server has custom maps. I've been watching this game off and on, I'm ready to move my ut99 clan over now if we can run the mods we have come to love in ut(even if I have to make them). I think we are ready for a change, ut4 does not look to bring us over. We are old school guys and we are set in our ways. lmao We played ut99 all the way to 2004, we did try ut3 but hated it. Now we set on ut99 with very few players and we don't seem to mind, its our game we love it. I'm the only one thats been playing the free Toxikk from steam and I LOVE IT! It moves like old ut, but looks better then 2k4. Big plus Toxikk doesn't have over heating weapons, like the new ut4 just got from the new patch. I would love to help build up the community in this fun game, you hit it right on the nose with this one. Frag like its 1999 is not an over statement, you guys found the formula that Epic has lost. Good job :D

Auto-download works.
It's a bit of work if you want to set it up manually (it requires a HTTP server to host the files), but you can use my TOXIKK Server Pack, which bundles and automates it all.
If you need further assistance, you can find me on Discord most of the time (except this Sat-Tue).

You can see the auto-download and mod support in action on these servers (and others):
MOD Toxikk 2D
MOD CustMap BL+Insta
MOD MutatH0r Mix
MOD InstaCC

There's also a couple server starting with "Testlab", which are offline atm (but probably back up tonight)

How is it manually setup?, Is it like UT3?

- Put custom maps in: \\TOXIKK\UDKGame\Content\Maps\Toxikk (For game/server to load)
- Put maps in Web directory (For people to download via HTTP)
- Web server: allow mime type for file extension (.UPK/.UDK)
- Insert code into Engine.ini

Code: Select all
[IpDrv.HTTPDownload]
RedirectToURL=http://ADDRESS.COM/DIRECTORY/MAPS
UseCompression=False

[IpDrv.TcpNetDriver]
AllowDownloads=True
ConnectionTimeout=60.0
InitialConnectTimeout=60.0
AckTimeout=1.0
KeepAliveTime=0.2
MaxClientRate=15000
MaxInternetClientRate=10000
RelevantTimeout=5.0
SpawnPrioritySeconds=1.0
ServerTravelPause=4.0
NetServerMaxTickRate=30
LanServerMaxTickRate=35
IdleServerTickRate=30
DownloadManagers=IpDrv.HTTPDownload
DownloadManagers=Engine.ChannelDownload
NetConnectionClassName=IpDrv.TcpipConnection

Noting that Compression is False, unless a compression tool exists for .UDK files.

Is this correct?, What here needs changing?

Cheers,

That's pretty much it.
Compression is not supported.
The RedirctToUrl MUST end with a /

Alright.

How do I get them to show in the vote list? - Do I need to make a manual reference in one of the .INI files?, does it somehow auto detect new maps after a reboot?.

Cheers,

There is a DefaultMapList.ini / UDKMapList.ini file with several sections for different map lists.
If you empty that file, the game will generate a long list with all combinations of game modes and maps.

I think by default it uses the game type to select a specific map list.

One of the big advantages of my ToxikkServerLauncher tool is that it can generate a map list file. With all the community maps, different mods and servers I am hosting it quickly became impractible to manually manage a map/vote list.
