Discuss everything NOT related to TOXIKK

  • Anyone agree with me?

I mean just look at General Discussion now. There are at least 5 brand new consecutive threads started by this one guy, all during the same day (this morning).

My suggestion is put a maximum posts-per-day limit for new members that would then be lifted after something like 48 hours. Even now, this is slowly coming to the point where it's getting out of hand.

    Thank you for your attention.

  • Yup this is really fucking annoying!

I think adding a 'captcha' when you register would fix the problem if that's possible.

  • I like them.
Always nice to see new posts in the board overview.
    It's all about the suspense.
    Don't click on them immediately.
Let them sit there for a moment.

Then, just before the situation gets out of control, open it.
Now you can either close it quickly (still netting in more happy time than unhappy time) or report it for some extra XP.

    ;)

    Agreed & agreed.

I don't remember if you have to verify your e-mail to begin posting, but if this isn't a thing, make it a thing.

  • There is a captcha question in place that gets updated regulary... but the bots often get "human help" to overcome the captchas unfortunately.

  • Since this problem seems to persist... admin moderation for the first post of any new account should do the trick.

Most stock captcha questions are all pre-answered for bots. You could get a mod that allows you to create your own questions instead, like "what is the name of this game" -> "toxikk".

I've actually seen that done on one forum before. Far as I'm concerned, that would be the most effective way of preventing spam, out of the ones suggested here.

We use custom questions (current questions is: "What is Bart Simpson's skin color?"). ;) We also update them quite regulary. However, custom clearance for the first post would be a good solution too.
