What video editing software do you recommend?

Discuss everything NOT related to TOXIKK

  • I have been editing things with Windows Family Slideshow Maker™ for a while now and the problems/bugs/errors have been driving me insane. I've heard good things about Sony Vegas- but I am by no means an expert in this field so for mostly splitting/trimming and maybe a few post effects what do you recommend?

  • Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere are the best video editing software available. Sony Vegas is easier to use but I prefer Premiere because you can use it with full compatibility with other Adobe software (such as audition or something like this for sound mixing) and also because of the interface. But if you're new to video editing, Sony Vegas works pretty well and is easier.

  • Lightworks is a professional grade tool - and unlike the others it's free. But it was a bit too complicated for me.
So I tried out the demo version of NCH VideoPad Video Editor, and after 2 hours I felt quite comfortable with it and bought the Pro version. The home version is only $29,- iirc, but limited to 2 audio tracks.

  • Suppose it depends on what your intentions are. I use Windows movie maker (the newer one, just called Movie Maker) and although it's very very basic, it does what I want it to. It's also extremely easy to use. (I suppose that's a fair compromise considering how "basic" it is...)

Lightworks is free. Very complicated though.

  • Yeah, Sony Vegas is pretty good, but if it's too heavy for your wallet, Movie Studio is a more affordable option.

Just a mistake from them, don't pay attention and download it.
